Joe Jackson Home League (Intramural Program):
Minor division:
Ages 5 thru 7 mixed boys and girls program. Instructional program runs from the first week in September thru the week before Thanksgiving. The teams are selected in a blind draft in early August, most coaches contract their players at that time. This league has been designed to stress learning and enjoyment of the game so no standings are kept during the season. There is a weekend tournament at the end of each season.
The Elmer Palmer Classic is a single game elimination tournament with all players getting a trophy. The first and second place teams are invited to the banquet and are honored for their efforts.
Major division:
Ages 7 thru 10 separate leagues for boys and girls. The same philosophy as the minor program. The season ending tournament is called the Macky Kelly Classic.
*Joe Jackson is one of the founding member of the club and is also a lifetime member. In 2003 Joe past away. Although he no longer with us to those of us who played for Joe he will always be our coach. Any old members looking for information about the yearly game call Joe Jr, at the Verree.
Elmer Palmer is also one of the founding members of the club, a lifetime member and a member of the Philadelphia Old timers hall of fame. Active in soccer since the late thirties he still is an active coach.
Macky Kelly a lifetime member of the club and also a member of the Philadelphia Old timers hall of fame.
INDOOR:
The soccer club also runs an indoor program from Jan. thru Mar. Signups are held the last weekend of the outdoor season. Travel Players are ineligible for the home league program.
Our house league is the largest intramural program in the City of Philadelphia with over 30 teams.
